A Letter to the Obama Campaign

(from Antiwar League member and Ron Paul supporter, JB Webb)

To the Barack Obama campaign,

Hopefully, whoever opens this letter will come to understand why I cannot, in good conscience, lend you my support, Senator Obama. You have proven to those of us who still believe in our Constitutional liberty that you, Sir, have no real loyalty to the people, to the Constitution, or to your word. Harsh as this might sound, I find it troubling that you have repeatedly voted to restrict our 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th Amendment rights - as if you believe these things are expendable and somehow you know better than I what is right for me. You have violated your oath to “support and defend” the Constitution with these votes and by also voting for an unconstitutional ex-post-facto “law” with disregard for Article 1, Section 9.

You have falsely led the antiwar movement for your own political objective. Antiwar is slowly awakening to this fact – even though you made it perfectly clear in 2002 that you are “not against all wars.”

You lost me in 2006 when you lied about your Patriot Act II vote. You said you would not vote for it, yet you did. Again, you lied about your FISA spy bill vote as well. Perhaps you might sway some apologists by calling it a “compromise,” but for those of us with the understanding of constitutional restrictions of power, we realize that you cannot justify any “compromise” of our basic inalienable rights. FISA was certainly no compromise – it was a “decriminalization” of blatantly criminal activity for corporate benefit. Period. Again, you let me down.

The average American does not understand that your budget plan and government-sponsored social plans incur more federal spending at unprecedented amounts while somehow still maintaining a global empire and funding unending wars against a tactic. You do not address the Federal Reserve’s role in manipulating our declining dollar and have no viable plan for addressing the economic disaster which is on our doorstep. You support a quest to maintain American imperialism around the planet. What most don’t realize is that by trying to sustain this American Empire, it will break the economic spine of our country and lead to bankruptcy and, eventually, our complete insolvency. The words “Federal Reserve” appear nowhere on your website – how can I take you seriously on economic matters?

Sen. Obama, you pander to AIPAC’s objectives and fully support, as you say, America’s “special relationship” with Israel. You have promised an increasing war in Afghanistan. You have threatened war with Pakistan and Iran. Your plan is to keep 40,000-80,000 troops in Iraq to support our for-hire mercenary army, Blackwater, which answers to no one and is held to no accountability. I’m sorry, but yours is not a plan of peace, as you would like the people to believe. It is, in fact, the opposite. A Goldman Sachs, Exelon backed, Brzezinski/Brookings Institution influenced policy of more corporatism and war profiteering. Just the idea that you would entertain the notion of starting “preemptive wars” disturbs me greatly.

It is also important to note that under an Obama administration, an independent investigation of the events of 9/11/01 will never occur – even in the wake of the 9/11 Commission itself saying that the investigation was completely compromised. Your “tough guy” talk of “terrorists holed up in those mountains” and renewed interest in Afghanistan let me know that you have learned
absolutely nothing about the history of bad US foreign policy, the horrific covert operations of our CIA, and the “blowback” and animosity all of this creates. This mindset proves Hegel correct in saying, “The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.”

To hear you publicly laud the “accolades” of and the “influence” that Zbigniew Brzezinski has had upon you almost makes me ill. This is the very man who, during the Carter administration, created Al Qaeda under the secrecy of Operation Cyclone and who has stated that he has
absolutely no regret for doing so. The very “terrorist threat” we face today was birthed by Brzezinski - who is your policy advisor. Now he wants Obama to slay Osama? Can you not see the irony here? This is a man who opines in his writing how the “elites” should “manage,” “manipulate,” and “control” the “vassals?” How arrogant and completely insulting! I can’t lend you credence when you seem to have fallen hook, line, and sinker for the very “geostrategic imperative” of “American primacy” – a page directly from the Brzezinski Grand Chessboard playbook. You are being used as a tool to continue resource wars at any cost and the subjugation of sovereign nations and peoples under the guise of a bogus “direct external threat” - which Brzezinski is directly involved in creating. I will not buy into this because it is a ploy to control people though fear. Either you don’t see it, or worse, you completely agree with it.

Sadly, Sen. Obama, I think you are nothing more than a political opportunist, bank-rolled by Wall Street and the defense industry. You offer no real change other than a quickly fleeting pipe dream and plenty of people are awakening to this reality. You invite more of the status quo, rather than deter it. How unfortunate for those who cannot or will not see through your vague and bloated hype. Your socialist direction for America (
and the world) flies in the face of everything self-government, individual liberty, and constitutional principle are based upon. Oddly, I doubt that even you, Sen. Obama, or those that “believe” in you, are aware of this. When will “fact” replace “belief?”

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure these things out. It does, however, take a citizen with enough motivation to look beyond the empty hype peddled by corporate-controlled media mouthpieces, the ability to decipher what he or she reads between the lines, and an understanding of the all-too-real consequences of what your loose and intentionally vague rhetoric actually means. For you to object to a national ID card solely on the grounds of the financial burdens it places upon the States frightens me way more than you not rejecting it on the basis that it cuts against the grain of what a free and open society is truly about.

Yes, indeed, some of us have retained the capacity for critical thinking and are quite aware of what the implementation of an Obama policy plan would mean for our country. All anyone with even half a brain has to do is look at those who line your policy advisor ranks – those with ties to the Brookings (“the surge is working”) Institution and those with ties to the Council on Foreign Relations. It’s disgusting enough that you’ve chosen sides with Zbigniew Brzezinski. His creepy Orwellian writings of an electronically monitored and controlled population by a select elite ought to be enough to scare the pants off the average voter, but his call that “national sovereignty is no longer a viable concept” chimes right along with the Council on Foreign Relations document “Sovereignty and globalisation,” a policy paper in which the CFR openly advocates for the end of sovereignty of all nation-states, including ours, and pushes for One World Government. Brzezinski overtly advocates for One World Government. In addition, continue on with the proposals of the CFR’s “Building a North American Community” and you will have the total evisceration of the Constitution of the United States of America. No, this is not globalization in a touchy-feely humanitarian sense – this, taken from their own extensive writings, is corporate-controlled globalization by international elitists. Pure and simple, it’s a socialist form of fascism – corporatism. It is a blatant slap in the face of our autonomy. To support the objectives of the Council on Foreign Relations, how could it be construed as anything short of
treason for anyone who has sworn the Oath to the Constitution?

No, I cannot condone this and I cannot vote against my own self-interests and the interest of all people, here and abroad. Anyone who checks on your financial coffers, voting record, and policy advisors, as I certainly have, will soon understand to whom you are beholden and where your loyalties lie. Logic, compassion and the principles of liberty prevent me from voting for a leader who disregards the legitimate role of government and who would morally and financially cripple this country. I will not support “winning for the sake of winning” or even the “lesser of two evils” because the long-term detriment of this will certainly outweigh any short-term benefit and will have far greater repercussions in the future.

"Liberty cannot be preserved
without a general knowledge among the people, who have
a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right
to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge,
I mean the characters and conduct of their rulers."
