Report on an Antiwar Gathering (November 28, 2006)
The Boston area chapter of Antiwar League held a small but spirited rally on Veteran's Day in Roslindale, MA. The rally began at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (also known as Armistice Day).
The focus was on the war, with speakers and literature calling to bring all the troops home and close the war-generating empire of military bases. Antiwar League is against the whole "war on terror" system which leads to endless war and torture abroad and fear and loss of freedom at home. Our purpose on that day was to talk to our fellow citizens about the crisis we face in this country and what people can do about it.
The rally was unique, and possibly the first of its kind, in that it included speakers from across the political spectrum who were united by their determined and clearcut opposition to aggressive war and empire. It was truly a "full spectrum antiwar" event.
Here is a link to the flyer we distributed to passersby:
Iraq: "the most hellish place on Earth"
